Argentine Bomb Squad Report; Gibraltar Raid to Blow Up British Warship.

An intriguing report that an Argentine special forces bomb squad was arrested in the Spanish town of Cadiz on a secret mission to blow up a British warship and a support vessel in Gibraltar harbour during the 1982 Falklands Conflict has appeared in the London Sunday Times newspaper.

Lord Levy's Mystery Latin America Mission ;Newspaper Rejects UK Government Denials.

A denial by the British Government that Prime Minister Blair's personal envoy, Lord Levy, was to have talks in Argentina and Chile on a now postponed visit to South America has been challenged by the British newspaper, The Mail on Sunday, which carried the original report a week previously.

UK Ambassador in Chile favours more links Falklands/Punta Arenas.

“There are good possibilities to strengthen trade and tourist relations between Magallanes Region and the Falklands, and transport should be increased further”, said British Ambassador in Chile Gregory Faulkner during an official visit to Punta Arenas where he was also present to welcome the “HMS Dumbarton Castle”.

Secret Latin America Visit Postponed; Blair's Special Envoy Mystery.

A newspaper report that the Falkland Islands were to be discussed in top level talks during a mystery mission to several Latin American countries by British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Special envoy, Lord Levy, has been categorically denied by British Government Officials, who ridiculed the report. Mercopress was told : “The story is wrong, false, made-up, and any other such adjective you care to use”.

'Argentine' boy scores winning goal for French.

David Trezeguet a 22 year old Frenchman who grew up in Argentina and who speaks fluent Spanish, sealed victory for France in the Euro 2000 soccer championship final in Rotterdam. Trezeguet who came on as a 2nd half substitute, with France the World Champions losing 1-0 against Italy, played a significant part in the dramatic French win. First of all the AS Monaco player headed on the ball to another substitute Sylvain Wiltord who equalised with just seconds remaining in the game.

Reaction to Belgrano Court Move. British Insist Sinking Justified.

An Argentine application to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg to investigate the sinking of the cruiser General Belgrano in the 1982 Falklands Conflict with the loss of more than 320 crew has been met by surprise and rejection in the United Kingdom.
